Kid-Friendly Databases Make Research Easy

School starts this month. Book reports, research projects and homework assignments will be in full swing! Help your kids along in the research process by using the databases at the Virtual Library that are built for kids. Elementary students can use Search by Topic – Resources for Elementary Grades, a great tool to find articles and information for their reports.

Kids InfoBits (listed under the Try These First section of Resources for Elementary Grades) is an easy to use full-text database favorite. Kids InfoBits is a database developed especially for beginning researchers in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Featuring a graphic interface, with a popular search method of  moving from a broad subject to a narrower topic using the subject-based topic tree. The full-text content is from the best elementary reference sources and magazines. This database covers geography, current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

World Book for Kids (list under the Encyclopedias section of Resources for Elementary Grades) contains all the same great content of the print edition of World Book Encyclopedia along with a bright colorful interface which includes Science Projects, Biographies, Maps, Activities and Games.

These are just two of the many databases that you’ll find on The Library website. Check out the rest of our Kid-friendly databases today!
