It’s Mickey Mouse’s Birthday

Mickey Mouse’s Birthday

Eighty years ago on November 18, Steamboat Willie premiered in movie theaters. The animated movie with sound featured a cartoon character named Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse and the movie were the first of many Walt Disney characters and animated movies to follow and was an immediate hit.

From this humble beginning, Walt Disney created an entertainment empire that included a long list of feature-length animated movies as well as Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other theme parks. Most adults can link their childhood to a long list of Disney animated films and the characters and music that captured their imagination, entertained, and even enchanted them.
